Gamewell box ID/origin and age assistance

We recently picked up a Gamewell off a classified ad for a great price. Unfortunately, the seller knew almost nothing about it. He received it "from a customer" some time ago in Purchase, NY (Westchester County). He said the customer was from Armonk, NY.

It is in decent shape. Based on the photos and the SN stamped above the cog wheel, what can anyone tell me about it? All I know is that it's oldER... That's about it. ANY information possible about it would be great.

The number stamped above the Cog wheel is 84902

Thank you!

A shunt type master box from early 1934 (based on the serial). This style master does not have supervisory contacts to signify a tripped box. The exterior has been repainted obliterating the WHITE STRIPEs that would have been on the sides of the box. Prior to 1931, the Quick Action Doors were the same red as the shell, but by the time this box left the factory, the Quick Action Door would have been white with red highlighted lettering (white highlighting on some of the lettering of the red part of the door). The number plate would have had a black background. Box looks complete and in great shape.

Thank you so much for the information. That's awesome. Do you have any pictures to reference for the original pain scheme? We are considering restoring it. But we also appreciate its aged appearance reflecting it's long years of service.

Is there anything more to try and narrow down it's possible origin?

Thanks

The pictures below accurately represented how the box was painted including all aspects of the lettering. The insides of YOUR box are original.
