Here's a link to ex-FDNY FB John Harvey done up in WWI "dazzle camo" (In recognition of WWI ending in 1918.) Ten pix plus an embedded link to the originator of those WWI maritime paint jobs.

The site is done by "Tugster" who keeps track of tugboats in NYC harbor, up the Hudson, across the NYS barge canal and into the Great Lakes. The photos are his.

FDNY Marine operations 21 min video. Suspicious fire breaks out around 11PM after local efforts to designate an 1886 warehouse as an historic landmark. Fronting on the Gowanus Canal allows Marine 6 and 9 (Firefighter II) to flow lots of water (1st ten min), then a tour of the 2nd alarm response companies, a shot of the FDNY drone getting ready for possible deployment. Lastly TL 121 being raised into action and flowing water onto smoldering embers. Seen downwind and floodlight illuminated from the local street level bridge.

Here is a screen capture showing the fireboats in action.

Note there is a relay from M9 FFII (50k gpm) to M3. M3 is up against the seawall in shallow water. M9 is moored alongside a loaded gravel barge and is able to draft from deep water (lessen the chance of debris being sucked up from the canal bottom. M3 is pushing against the seawall to have a stable platform and to counteract the reaction of the forward flowing deck pipes.)

Additionally - Here is a link to the audio. Note the transition to a more experienced dispatcher very early on.) Listen for the instruction to shut down the TL and have the FBs take over putting water on the bldg.)

50k gpm Rainbow

FDNY fireboat 343 displaying her ability to flow 50,000 gallons per minute at the 17th annual Steve Siller Tunnel to Towers (T2T) memorial run on 9-30-2018. Notice the rainbow mixed in with the streams.

At the tunnel's exit in Manhattan the runners are greeted with members of FDNY showing larger-than-life photos of the brothers lost that day and cadets from the US Military Academy at West Point holding American flags. One photo shows a firefighter emulating Siller by running in full turnout gear. Many of the runners do this.

This year more than 50k people participated.

FDNY fireboat Firefighter II preparing to flow 50k gpm in participation of the 100th anniversary of the first trans-Atlantic flight by the USN NC-4 aircraft from the Rockaways in NYC to Lisbon, Portugal and then on to England to acknowledge the sailing of the Mayflower 299 years earlier.

Google map here:
Her predecessor, FF I was involved in fighting the fires when the cargo ship Sea Witch lost steerage while exiting NY Harbor and crashed into ESSO Brussels in May of 1973. Brussels was carrying 31,000 barells of volatile crude. She burst into flames. See previous posts. She was awarded "Gallant Ship" status.

Another Gallant Ship is the SS Meredith Victory which evacuated 14,000 refugees from N. Korea in December 1950. Pix of the vessel, the crowded deck and the award are here: https://tinyurl.com/yxn5xnyt
