Detroit, Michigan

Today the DFD responded to a fire along the Detroit River near St. Jean and Freud Streets. It was involving the former Boblo Island ferry boat St. Claire. The St. Claire was used to transport patrons to Boblo until the park closed in the early 1990s. It was in the process of being restored until today's fire occurred.

The Curtis Randolph (Fireboat 1) was put to work, along with a full box alarm assignment. I also included a photo from 2016.

Little twist of Irony. Captain Ken Horner of the Curtis Randolph Fireboat was also the skipper of the SS St. Claire for 2 years. Sad end to a beautiful ship. Hopefully they can fix her up and she doesn't wind up having a date with the breaker's torch.
