"Dark Tide"

"Dark Tide" by Stephen Puleo chronicles the great molasses flood that occurred in Boston
in 1919 (yes, it really happened). Among the many buildings destroyed in the North End
was the Boston fireboat station resulting in one BFD LODD. The stories of death, destruction,
and heroism are gripping in this most unusual and forgotten American tragedy.

For history buffs, the book also delves into the social, economic, and political events of
the post World War I era and how these events led to many rumors, theories, and fears
as to the cause of this disaster. In the end it was good old greed that was the cause of
the molasses tank failure.
