San Jose Firefighters 2011 Car Show
« on: June 19, 2011, 12:33:17 AM »
So my son and I took our 1968 Ford/Hahn engine to the San Jose Firefighters Car Show. This is the first year we've done the show since we didn't have 8506 last year! There were only a few other privately owned rigs there, including a tractor drawn Seagrave aerial ladder. Most of the rigs were current in service San Jose apparatus and a few pieces owned/operated by the museum.

Shown below is 8506 with the Seagrave, with the doors open, and with the cab tilted.

San Jose Truck 1, a Spartan/Crimson. Oh, there were cars at the show too, maybe 100 or so, I just didn't take any pictures of them.

Three more cool shots. Close up of the bell on the museum's Mack. A Southern Pacific Locomotive built by Baldwin in 1913, complete with airliner taking off from San Jose's airport in the top left of the photo, and a shot of the Seagrave from the hose bed of 8506, with some of those cars that were at the show in the background.

Hope you all enjoyed the photos!

It's in quite a few more shots of the San Jose rigs I didn't post, they kept parking all around us.

I think the fire trucks were probably the star of the show, after all, that's why people go to parades in the US!  :D  And is it just me, or does the bumper on the Seagrave look a bit off-set?

The bumper does look that way, can't really be the angle. I checked my other shots and this is the best one that would show it if it was offset.

There were only two CalSPAAMFAA member owned rigs here at the show, mine and the Seagrave, although I the museum might technically be a member too. Most of the firefighters, and there were lots of them there on duty and off, seemed more interested in the cars, and many of the cars were owned by firefighters. Since 8506 is open and kid friendly, more then a few kids climbed inside and had their pictures taken, as opposed to San Jose's rigs which nobody was really checking out. We also handed out some of our trading cards at the show and they were a big hit with kids.

I included a shot of our cards, version 1 anyway. Version 2 has some improved typesetting but is otherwise the same.

SixbyFire ,  Do you have any problems with the roof flexing from the lightbar?  My department has a '78 C-cab Pierce and we had to add extra supports to the roof.
