Title: Louis Marx & Co - American LaFrance (Jox?) midship ladder truck
Post by: Frank van der Weerden on November 30, 2015, 01:25:17 PM
Bought a model of a Louis Marx and Co, made in Gt. Britain last Saturday.
I was wondering if anyone have more info of it. It has a friction motor and I can put a battery in it for the flashlight.
Does anyone knows what is missing? I have to ladders which I joins as an extension one. Also any year or number of the model please?
Thanks, Frank

Hello Frank:
Louis Marx Toy Plant was located just across the Ohio River from my hometown.  The city they were located in is Moundsville, W.Va.
The company went out of business many years ago and they made thousands of different toys much like the one you have posted.  I have to question that the Marx Toy Plant is in England inasmuch as I know a lot about the plant in America and it closed many, many  years ago.
What you have could very well be very valuable so don't sell this toy too cheaply.

That rig looks to be more of a 700 Series than a JO/JOX.  The JO/JOX had a front grille, a flatter face and was a wider cab.
