Title: Scale Model Firehouses
Post by: phil/las on March 09, 2014, 01:30:33 PM
Noticed that there are a few Ho scale kits on the market today that with a little time, patience, and imagination, can be modified into a firehouse. This started life as a Ho scale DPM Models B. Moore Catalog/Showroom. With an American Flag, sign, and some more paint touch up, this should come out looking pretty good. Wish I had half the talent of some scratch firehouse molders that I have seen on this site and others!!! Ho scale and others are represented here.

Since the apparatus photography well has run dry lately here in my area of Southern Nevada lately, I modified this DPM Goodfellows Hall ho scale model into a fire station. It was fun project.

A question for you: Whose trucks are you using?  I recognize the old cab forward, are the others also Matchbox models, suitably "doctored"?

I have the 70th Anniversary Seagrave in red, and am thinking of painting some of the accessories on it to be more appropriate.

Or are these Lee Town models?

The International cab engines are from Boley, I can't remember what the white van is. The ford c is from Imex. The rest are Matchbox.

Matt, this one looks like the fire house in Lambertville. If I remember correctly the name of the co. w/ ...... wing? It's been nearly 30 yrs since I have been thru Lambertville. And did't they have the Christmas lights strung under the 2nd floor windows?
Title: Re: HO Scale Firehouses
Post by: phil/las on June 21, 2014, 10:21:36 AM
Bob, this one is the Columbia of Lambertville. The Christmas lights on the second floor was the cause of a fire that damaged the second floor a while back. The former Fleetwing H&L quarters looks a little like the model. Lambertville has some great classic old stations.

Occasionally, I'll put one of my smaller, polystyrene plastic models on Ebay but the larger ones are just done as a hobby. It would be great to sell them but I would have to charge way too much than what people would be willing to pay in order for me to make any profit. Also, these models have alot of sewing pins and small brad nails holding them together. I would not want somebody to get stuck while handling them. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to start selling. Thanks you for the inquiry.
