A brass advertising paperweight from the Robbins Co. of Attleboro and North Attleboro, MA.  While the Robbins Co. was best known for advertising specialties. they were prolific makers of firematic watch fobs to commemorate various occasions and also manufactured some fire department badges.

They should not be confused with the John Robbins Mfg. Co. of Kneeland Street, Boston.  There was never any connection between the two companies though that causes much confusion.

An advertising paperweight from the C.H. Hanson Company of Chicago, Illinois.  They did not do a lot of business in this part of the country (East Coast) but were famous for their Police and Fire badges in and around Chicago, Ill.  Their Pie Plate police badges are prized collectibles for police badge fans.  They did almost all of Chicago FD's badges for quite a few years.  As you can see from their ad, they were active in many other items as well.

I found an active listing for the C.H. Hanson Co. outside of Chicago so called them on a whim to see what they knew of their company history (and just in case they had an old cigar box full of old, forgotten badges in a desk drawer).  Short answer---they knew nothing of their badge producing days and asked that I send them some images of what they used to produce.  No cigar box either!!

An advertising piece for the Colonial Badge Co. of Providence RI.  Could not find much about this company, nothing in my badge hallmark book.  This dish is 2.5 inches in diameter.

Regardless of the company name, I really like the helmet on this piece.  If you get tired of looking at it I'll send you some stamps!  Have fun at Allentown.

Thanks Steve.  I'll keep it in the "S.H." pile.  Missed you at Allentown, hope all is well and you are finding great stuff.
