This photo, from the Pierce web site, shows the new IH/Pierce pumper that has been assigned to the presidential retreat Camp David near Thurmont, Maryland.
The rig is operated by the U.S. Navy and was built on an IH 4200 series, low profile chassis.

Steve, that's a beautiful rig. Any idea what kind of department Camp Davis has? Is it just this one rig? (On a sidenote, Camp David, being a "Camp", I assume is operated by the USMC. i.e. Camp Lejune, Camp Pendelton) Does the Navy provide firefighting duties for all USMC bases?

The Navy and Marine Corps operate seperate departments at their various facilities. For that matter. all of the military branches do, even the larger Coast Guard facilities have their own departments.
I was surprised to learn that there was even a rig at Camp David much less that the Navy was operating the piece. I would have assumed that it was U.S. Army. (The Army also uses the Camp designation, you just don'y hear it often). The Thurmont FD use to provide protection to the facility. I wonder if this may have been the first rig assigned there.
I may be in that general area in a couple of weeks. I wonder what the odds are of photogrpahing this rig are? (Zero)

Hahaha, Steve, you should try to get some photos of the rig... Just think how much fun it would be for Greg and I to come and bail you out of prison! One may wonder that if this is the first rig stationed there, it may be because of the security increases at all bases in the last year.
