This rig was rejected by Uniondale.  I believe this is currently in service with North Hampton Township (Allegheny Co.), PA.  The cab is a modified Century Lo-boy, not a Century 2000.

This rig was rejected by Uniondale.  I believe this is currently in service with North Hampton Township (Allegheny Co.), PA.  The cab is a modified Century Lo-boy, not a Century 2000.

By "modified," do you mean dressed new with Century 2000 headlight/warning light assemblies, or an aftermarket modification?

I was referring to the headlight/warning lights and the raised roof canopy, both original to this apparatus, but not all Century's built at Bluefield.

Tsk, tsk tsk,    from you,  my hero!  The rejected rig you speak of was "Big Fred" S/N 2098, ordered by  Lake View, NY as seen below.  The Uniondale rig as I have recently confirmed was a 70's vintage rear mount, single axle refurbed by the then Service Center in Throop, PA.  The chassis was extended to accept the 2nd axle, the body fabbed by Tinsley Design & Fabricating (their usual source for bodies), and a Century cab added. A big $$ project that made them all happy.

I've always thought (and this is coming from a HUGE ALF fan) that the Century 2000 is one of the ugliest chassis ALF produced, after the Patriot and the Straighline/Spartan II or whatever it's called.
