Engine #5 and Engine #6 are the same as Engine #14, it is what Akron calls their "towers", they can be an ariel but are really never used as one. From most of the guys I know on AFD, they all hate those trucks. Also I think there is already an Akron thread started somewhere.

I know there was at least one other thread, but now I can't find it. I even posted pictures in it. Interesting.
There is talks of getting rid of the Sutphen at L4, and them getting the Pierce rearmount from L10. L10 would be disbanded. The Sutphen would only be used for "major" fires. I know a lot of the guys on L4, and I know they do not like the Sutphen. This would be part of the whole AFD "consolidation" that is going on.
Also, pretty good possibility of HM/R4 going to be replaced. Sounds like they may buy a used rescue from Copley Fire. It is a commercial chassis (Kenworth), that Copley hardley uses and they want to sell. If all the political games get worked out, it will probably go to AFD HM/R4. There is also a good possibility of it becoming a county truck for one of the special ops teams if the AFD thing does not get worked out.
And last but not least, I think at least 2 of the "towers" are due for replacement in the near future. I imagine they will stick with Pierce engines, they seem to like them.

Wow my hometown does some strange things. Don't understand why they would disband a ladder co.? All five are so spread across the city as it is. Just reading the 09 report, and noticed they replaced a few engines (7,8) yet the majority of the companies are running 91 Sutphens.

Ladder 10: pics saved from this site, now being reposted. Again, these are NOT my photos, simply reposting for everyones enjoyment. I apoligize in advance if any, and/or all of my disclaimers offend anyone, but the last thing I want to happen is to be accused of stealing someone else's photos.
