What do you guys mean...aerial ladder or ladder truck, as opposed to a quint?

Also, please post a link to Ranielle's Facebook page; I can't find it.

Correct Steve.  Truck company config. is when it has no pump/tank, regardless of whether it has a ladder pipe or not.

Thank you for posting these!  The Keokuk truck has been showing up all over the place, kinda taunting me, LOL!

Just curious... why do you say it's taunting you?

I was assigned to this rig from time to time for my first several years on the department.  I have oodles of photos of it, as well as the rest of our rigs.

To complete the information on it posted previous to your quote, the rig was powered by a Detroit 8v92 and an Allison automatic transmission.  It was designated "Aerial 1."

I bought the 1948 ALF 700 Series rig that the '80 replaced.  Trying to restore it, but it's an uphill battle.

At the time, I was considering purchasing it.  Whenever I would get close to talking myself out of it, a picture of it would pop up somewhere.

I was contacted by the current owner this summer, he's still looking to sell it.  If you're interested, I'll gladly put you in contact with him.  If I had the cash, I'd be bringing it home myself.  I think it would be pretty cool to be a second generation fireman owning the first and second generations of the department's aerials... to both of which my dad had been assigned at different times.

I'd love to buy it, but the problem is I'm still working on getting out from under my college loan.  I've been hoping that it'll still be for sale once I get rid of the loan.  Unfortunately, I'd have to get rid of the blue light.  I've looked into it, and in my state it's illegal to have one on even an antique fire truck.  Though if my Chief has his way, my FD's next engine will have a blue light on the rear.  This truck is really a gorgeous truck though!

Hi Dave,

Yes, you are correct. The rig in question is in deed Portland Maine. It was assigned to Ladder 4 in the Northgate scetion of the City. It later served as Ladder 1. Hope this helps!

Regards
Frank San Severino

Does anyone here have the correct year and job number for the Portland 100' rearmount?
