This GMC engine was built in the 1980's specifically for Cheyenne Mountain (NORAD) Fire Department. Shortened bed and wheel base in order to manuvere easily in the tunnels of the underground facility.

That's a fascinating piece of apparatus, it looks as though it will tip over any moment. I don't hear of many rigs where the frame ws shortened. A couple of years back I saw a news program about Cheyenne; as the correspondent was entering the tunnel a pair of GMC or Chevy chassis mini-pumpers (most likely KME's) were parked along the wall. This is one place that I never expected to see a photo from. Please post any others if you have them! Not cerrtain but that may be a Darley nameplate over the pump.

The custom chasis GMC is long gone from there. It was very problematic piece of apparatus. Supposedly, it is in the Smithsonian.... not sure about that one.
The two quick attack 250 gpm units you are refering to are still in-service. I believe you are correct they are KME's. One is set up as a brush truck and the other is set up as a rescue unit.
