I don't think that they've found an antique engine that I'm aware of.

Last for this thread is the Fountain VFD, located on RT 46 between Ft. Ashby and Keyser. The company started operations in 1972 and has steadily progressed.
The Shaft REO/Oren would be sold by Fountain in 1994.

The original 1953 IH 1200 gal. tanker for Fountain came from Cresaptown, MD., they got it from US Navy surplus in 1962.
By the early 1980's, it was replaced with this 1970 Chevy C-60/Allied/Bruco 250/2200, that was already painted slime when it came to Fountain, this would start Fountain's slime years.
This 1974 Dodge Kary-van was sold to Fountain in 1982, it had already been slimed by McCoole around 1980. It would run at Fountain thru-out the 80's.

Thank you both for posting these!  Fountain is one great company, got a good number of friends there.  I didn't know they used to run slime rigs, I'm glad that 39-13 was white and blue when they bought it!

Short Gap got this 1985 GMC/Grumman 1000/800 and relaced it in 1998.

Do you know who SGVFC sold 34-11 (IH/E.W.Steinbaugh) and 34-12 (GMC/Grumman) to?

No idea, most of the older gas-powered rigs have been going to brokers in the Midwest and South

Reason being?  I figured that most of the old gas-powered rigs are being re-engined or ended up spending a life as something else or being sent to Mexico and South America.

I would rather see any used rigs go to a poor vfd in this country than go south of the border.

You have a very good point.  It is better to keep American built trucks in the United States.  I've just been taught that gas-powered fire trucks were more of a liability these days.  I like what E-One has done recently, fire departments submit their stories of faulty/unsafe apparatus and it registers them in a drawing to win a new E-One Tradition engine.
