Kettering, OH in the 1980's

Kettering is another community located South of the City of Dayton in Montgomery County.  Kettering still operates out of 7 stations although the numbering changed from 1 thru 7 to 31 thru 37 for the countywide numbering system.  Sta. 31 & Sta. 35 are still all volunteer.  The remainder are staffed at various times by 24 hour career, 8 hour career, and volunteers.  I don't know if they have any part timers?  A unique system of staffing to say the least.  Anyway, enjoy the Pirschs.

I never shot E-3's Pirsch when it carried its original Co.#.  This shot is at Sta. 3 and since they had their new Hahn, I'm guessing this was their old rig.  The Pirsch Serial # does not show up in any of my other photos. If anyone knows anymore please let me know.

At this time Kettering ran two trucks.  Truck 1 ran from Sta. 3 and Truck 2 ran from Sta. 2.

With this delivery the white/red & all white paint schemes changed over to this yellow/white.
At this time Truck 1 became Truck 3.

One of those Kettering Pirsch engines ended up in Gallia County. Greenfield twp. started a fire dept. around 15 years ago and I think Kettering either donated or did one of those $1.00 deals to the twp. Not sure if GVFD still has it though. They got lucky with FEMA grants and scored a Smeal/Freightliner a few years back. I do know they traded the Q to Gallipolis for some hose and equipment.
