Fire Damages Boardman Condo

A condo fire in Boardman Friday night caused an estimated $350,000 in damages.

Crews from Boardman and Poland battled the fire on Southwestern Run off Western Reserve Road just after 7 p.m.

An older model car in the garage somehow caught fire, destroying the garage and the condo. A firewall prevented flames from entering an attached unit.

The homeowner was rescued by a neighbor and was taken to the hospital for observation.

BOARDMAN — Township firefighters were called to a fire at a condominium residence at 820 Southwestern Run, off Western Reserve Road and South Street, at 7:08 p.m. Friday.

Fire department personnel were starting to leave the scene about 10:40 p.m.

It does not appear the blaze caused any injuries, according to a department spokesman.
