Photo Ops Marion Area Fire/Police Depts.
« on: May 08, 2009, 04:04:01 PM »
Planning a road trip middle part of May to Marion, Ohio to do some train watching.  Coming from the Dearborn area (Michigan) and I was wondering what area fire/police departments in the area of Marion I could stop at to get some  photos.

Thanks,
Anthony J. Rzucidlo

There's an old firehouse still used right in the middle of downtown Marion, originally built in 1912. Another on the north end of town @ the corner of Fairground Street & Jefferson Street, built in 1981. Here's a pic of the downtown station:

Also there's the VERY old fire station (now a "safety city" thing for kids) that would make some great pics... take north main from the center of downtown & make a right @ the road just before Rally's restaurant... it's in the parking lot of the Moose lodge. BE CAREFUL in Marion, LOTS of 1 way streets!

I lived in Marion for 14 years... there's several sets of busy tracks. One runs right through downtown, another set crosses Rt. 4 south of downtown and beyond that a few miles is another, but the busiest tracks cross North Main Street (Rt. 4 north) just north of downtown a few miles. Plenty of places to park @ that crossing too. Any further advice needed? Let me know.     -Dwayne
