Overall, it was a good rig.  It had a big 8V71 Detroit in it with lots of torque, so much that we broke numerous axle shafts over the years.  We used to have a pile of them behind the station!  It didn't stop very well, either, but it was fun to drive.  That one was the first Diesel, first automatic, and the first pump over 1000 GPM in our department.  It was front line from 1978 to 1989 and was sold to Hillbilly Fire Apparatus in 1992.

Sounds like a Seagrave.  I wonder where she's at now.  Nothing beats those older Seagraves.  FDMH's former Chief will be quick to proclaim that nothing can touch a Seagrave's performance and that our old ladder truck was the best truck we've ever had.  That truck was a beast.  The day we sold her she ran like she was new.  Her only problem was the governor was set so low her top speed was only about 45mph.
