Molten steel causes fire at Warren Steel Holdings
Story from the Warren Tribune Chronicle on 6/11/2008.

WARREN TOWNSHIP -- Molten steel burned a hole in a fill ladle Wednesday morning at Warren Steel Holdings, causing a small fire.

Fire Chief Ken Schick said molten steel spilled onto the floor in the melt shop, burning some hydraulic and electric lines. The fire department was called to the former Copperweld Steel Co. off Mahoning Avenue just after 8 a.m.

No damage estimate was available, but Schick said the company suspended operations for several hours while the fire was put out and the floor was cleaned. No one was injured.

Schick said Howland and Champion firefighters assisted and crews remained on scene for about two hours.
