Notice the yellow warning light on the roof.  Not a common color for a light (at least in these parts).  Also, the speakers are mounted on the extended front bumper.

The city purchase two like this one in 1975.  We operated them until 1997 or 98 when they were auctioned off.  The were very reliable rides.

Asheville, NC's Pioneers:  2 I's, 1 II, & 2 III's.  The I's were their first diesels.  Photo of the II was by the late John Sytsma.  The III's are shown in service, then awaiting their fate at auction.  One can be seen in the "Beside the Road" post.
