Here's what we're going to do,
if you know of any web sites with information on fire call boxes, please take a moment and post the web address here. I'll even make the topic sticky so it doesn't get lost! I know there are some out there. I'll give the easy one right off the bat...

The Box 41 Associates of Lynn, Massachusetts maintain an excellent web site covering the activities of the LFD.

There is a page for the Fire Alarm Office and also a listing of the cities box locations.  In additon there are nice apparatus and fire ground photos. Worth a visit any time!

Then click on Police and Fire Stuff on the right site
And finally, Feuer Alarm Stationen / Fire Alarm Stations on the right side again!

Beautiful! And just for your information...

Here's another site to check out. www.waynealarm.com Go to the antique section. They have a lot of things you don't normally see, plus some great alarm office photos.

Hey gang!
I've finally got the chance to sit down and do a web site about New Jersey's forgotten Telegraph fire alarm box systems.  Yes, NJ FD's have great websites, but most of them do not talk about the back bone of notification of fires in the FD's history.  That's why I created www.backtaps.com ...to tell of a town's box alarm history.  So far, I have Rutherford & West Orange up, complete with the most recent box listing.  I have some info up for Lyndhurst, with more info to follow.  Primarily, it the site will concentrate on New Jersey.  However, I may add a section for other states down the road.    So, please feel free to look around.  Its still in its infancy stage and I will be adding info and changing formats.

I am looking for information regarding history of NJ telegraph fire alarm systems.  If you know a complete history or know a contact with whoim I can get infomation from, please let them know of this site and have them contct me.

From 1938 comes this retro fire box meant to thwart pranksters and make accountable those who pull the fire alarm by trapping them.  The down side is that you’ll probably die in the fire if you’re an honest person.

I have listed all the Toledo Ohio Police call boxes on our Union website.  Since most call boxes in Toledo were dual (fire and police) they all match up.  There were some single fire boxes out there.  I am working on assisting the fire museum in compiling a list of those for public research.  In the mean time here's the link for what I have compiled from the Toledo Police Patrolman's guide to the Police Telegraph system.
