I heard rumors they were going to do this, Let me/us know when it goes into effect.  Is this going to be everybody in the county, including Warren, Niles, etc or just the more rural areas?

Warren City is going to stay on 800mhz. I know for sure Warren Twp, Newton Falls, are going to the system. I hear different stories every week about the other departments either coming or staying on their current channel. Every department that Trumbull County 911 Dispatches for will be on the system. I also know that the departments that are not going will have their radios programmed for the new system for Mutual Aid calls and/or if any of the PSAP's decideds to shut down and have the 911 center dispatch for them, the radio system will already be in place.

I will definitely give a date on the switch over. I know here at the center we have one channel in the radio system (tower in Greene Township, border of Ashtabula and Trumbull County)working for testing purposes at this time. We were able to talk to Mesopotamia's Fire Chief in Streetsboro on his portable. So this should be a very nice system.

Can you give us more info as to how the system is going to work?
Is 154.250 going to be a repeater too?
and Channel A,B, & C REPEATERS?
What areas are the 3 channels going to cover?

I also know for a fact that Niles, Weathersfield, and McDonald will be dispatched by Niles Soon......Waiting on staffing issues....Niles fire will be on 154.190/R, Weathersfield will be on their freq 156.225.....McDonald I beleive will be on 156.225 also.....

Well so far here it is how it is supposed to go. (but it has changed on numerous occasions)

154.250 is main dispatch channel. All tones and call information go out on this channel.

Channel A is like the County Wide Main Channel. The departments that are tone out on 154.250 will respond and mark on scene on the A Channel. Then move to a TAC channel for operations with the OIC relaying info back to the 911 center on channel A.

If channel A gets busy with numerous departments, Either the Dispatcher or OIC will make the call to move to Channel B and so on.

154.250 Channel A, B, C are all on a repeater system. I know for a fact with testing the Greene Twp Tower can be heard clear from the Hermitage PA area and as far south as Columbiana County. The system is like a "Voted" repeater system with mini sites through out the county. Channel B is considered the "Marks" tower because it is located on OSP Warren's new tower for their 800 system in Leavitsburg. Channel C is the Brookfield Tower at the old county home off of st rt 7.

I believe for helicopter dispatching they have decided to just give them the current operational tac channel for ground contact.

Well as for Wxfield and Mcdonald leaving, that is a whole political mess that might not even happen from what is being heard from the non political personnel in niles...

Sorry guys my apologies Channel B Freq is 155.535 (and for spelling Marcs wrong).

I cant answer why they are not in the FCC database. Staley Communications did all the freq finding. And 154.765 is valid and on the air at this time. Bristol Fire Station 17 is now completely setup for high band now. They should be officially switched over within the next few days if not the first of next week.

Speaking of MARCS, I see freqs listed for Mahoning and Trumbull Counties but never monitored them.  What are they used for and are they very active.

I think the one that is used alot is OSP Warren. Trumbull Correction Institute and OSP do radio checks usually around 4pm and midnight. Not sure but it is either MCALL02 or MCOMM02. Sometimes OSP gives TC911 calls over the SO-78 Channel. not sure what the freqs are for them.

I talked with a tech from Staleys who was not able to help at this time, but would be able to obtain that information from their administrator department for me on Monday. Also something else funny, if anyone has noticed we have used WPEY665 for the last 10 years on the police and fire side. but if you look up the call sign it is only issued on the fire side. I will look it to this to see what is up.
