That's a very sharp looking piece of apparatus.  Any reason why they are going with a 2250gpm pump?  Seems like overkill but I don't have insight into their particular fireloads.

You know, I'm not quite sure why they went with a 2250gpm pump.   Possibly to pump straight from the engine as high up in the buildings as possible.  But, as the saying goes "when in doubt, overkill always works".

St. Louis sits very close to the new madrid fault line. Until the 30 Quints in 1987 all St.L Engines carried hard sleeve to facilitate drafting from the Mississippi River in the event of an earth quake or other major disaster. Due to space constrictions the Quints lacked hard sleeve. Chief Jenkerson recognized the need for drafting capability. This is why large fire pumps were purchased on the new pumpers. The pumpers were also equipped with 5" LDH hose. They now can act as portable pumping stations from the river moving 2250-3000gpm into the city via 5" LDH.

        I don't that much about quints  my friend brought one  forhis  vol co 

i took the course  ,, what  caught mu eye  was  the second in quint may not really know if they re a engine or ladder onm arrival .

any officer worth his  pay should be able to see  the job read it and know what needs  doing    examplw philly had two jobs  real close   and one assignment got  2  engs  and 2 ladders from a distance  .   second in eng radioed the 1st in eng  j i i  got the ladder  work.  and they used the 4 ladders on two engings to
ves   they never touched a hose line .  and a rescue was made .  II thjink the seoond in engdriver geared up  and left the piece with a cop

no preplan  no ics  etc  just fire fighters fighting a fire .   the co's  run  together
alot   .     I really believe  if you cover lines in ladders up  your  almost done
many house fires today only need  one line     i started in 65 ,no portable  radios  or  closed cabs the rig stoped  the  line went to the front door  , smoke or not

when you have to think   what to do  with a higher up , then i say good luck
