Department Profile Forum?
«
on:

I was wondering if we could start a department profile forum. I know we have the Mahoning Valley & Northeast Ohio forum, but I was thinking that we break those down further. I.E. into Department Profiles, News, Questions & Comments? :?: This way if we have guys who work for departments or just know everything about them like my good buddy Steve, we could have a seperate forums with all of the information. Just a suggestion I have...

I'm not 100% sure what you are looking for with this idea. Tell me more.

I was thinking that we list fire departments just as we do for the apparatus manufacturers. Then we could put in info like how many stations, rigs, career/volunteer, pics, how many guys on the department. Stuff like that. Sort of an informational purpose. We could also put any news in there as well. I think this way it would be more organized.

I think its a good idea. If I have info I usually put it in with any Pics for that Department. But this would keep it cleaner looking and more organized. Besides maybe we can get people to share info on more fire dept's even thought they may not have photos.

Sorry, I still think I'm not quite on the same page. Probably overthinking the idea
Are you just talking about just for the area departments or should I break it down like so...

Greg
That looks fairly good from my vantage point. Go State, County, City.
Oh BTW Detroit is in Wayne County.

I like this idea, I posted several months ago asking for this type of information for the local (Mahoning and Trumbull Counties) departments but didn't get any replies.

Sorry pgoogs,
I must have missed that comment in the shuffle somewhere.
Would the three of you help moderate the areas?

I'm up for it. Why not, I check in usually several times a day so I can always take a look around.

Ok I kinda started setting it up. Take a look,. I positioned them after the OH/PA Regional Discussion. I have a feeling a lot of posts are going to have to be moved if we use this setup.
Am I on the right track at least guys?

Hey Greg looks pretty good from my standpoint. Of course I'm not sure what everyone else thinks.
I usually post my pics by department instead of Mfg. So I think I would start to use this as the posting place from now on. I guess you could merge the two forums somewhat but that would be a huge task IMHO.
BTW can you post up Microsoft Excel spreadsheets? I ask because that's how I store most of my info on departments.

Ok cool. I'll keep at it slowly then. Any ideas on how I should do the counties? Should I add 1 more subforum for each state for the county or leave it at Ohio and you can start the post for the department? Figure that in that forum I have to add 50 forums, 1 for each state, then if I have to start creating subforums for each of the states' counties then that is an additional 3,143 forums, 1 for each county in the US
I'm dedicated but not that dedicate! hahahaha
I added .doc and .xls (Word documents and Excel Spreadsheets respectivly) to the attachments allowed so you can post your spreadsheets if you want.
Enjoy!

Pretty much just keeping an eye on the forums in that area for inappropriate posts, off topic posts or people starting arguments or trying to get others ticked off at someone else. We have a zero tolerance for any of that. Should someone start anything, notify me.
Also keeping the boards fresh. Post occasionally if things are slow.
Thats about it.
Difficult huh?
