Harvey Leedy YFD Firefighter
« on: January 14, 2004, 06:08:25 AM »
I have received a few emails regarding Firefighter/artist Harvey Leedy.
Mr. Leedy Was born in 1869 and passed away in 1947. Firefighter Leedy spent 47 years on the job in Youngstown mostly at Station 4, where he had his art studio as well.

Harvey was a driver for most of his career starting with horses in 1897 He was also the last driver in Youngstown of the horse drawn fire vehicle

On September 4, 1913 Harvey drove horses DANDY and DEXTER on their last run

Harvey turned done many chances to be promoted citing the fact that as a firefighter he had more time to pursue his career an an artist. Firefighter Leedy retired from the YFD on March 15, 1944
