In my Fourth of July travelling, I was wandering down Leffingwell road and spotted this sitting in one of the gated driveways to the fairgrounds ......

Too cool Haz! In the book Idora Park, Last Ride of Sumemr, there is a photo of that truck in the 1950's I think with some famous star at that time riding on it. I'll see if I scanned in that photo

Are they selling that truck? It would make a good rolling advertising vehicle for YoungstownFire.Com..

I didn't see any for sale signs on it ... I am assuming someone there on Leffingwell owns it ... as it was sitting on the County Fairgrounds side of the road.
But you are right .. that would make an awsome parade unit as well as a YFC showoff unit.

I was on Market St., out by the rear entrance to Boardman HS last night and this "rig" was loaded onto a flatbed, heading north on Market, towards Youngstown. It was an incredible looking piece, and the first time I had seen it in person.

I will have to look for it out at the fairgrounds when I go to the fair later this week ... and anyone else that goes out, keep your eyes peeled for it.

A little variation on this theme. These Kiddieland fire engines were marketed by Darley in the 1950's using Crosley automobiles as the power source. I would imagine that other companies built them too...
(That's me on the right hoping that one of those girls will throw a peanut my way)

I find that kinda neat that the second one is lettered KFD just like the Idora Park model.
BTW, you being the elephant, does that mean you don't forget a thing?
?

Anyone see the variation in the trucks? The truck on Leffingwell has its body attached to the bed and 4 wheels... The real Idora Kiddyland fire truck had it trailered and 6 wheels... Was someone making this one a re-creation?

Another of these Crosley fire engines was located at Jenkinsons Amusement Park at Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.

Here's a pic of the truck from the Lowellville Parade this past summer. Photo taken by our great webmaster Greg.
