fire stations closings

Hey, I was just driving past the fire station at the cornor
of Schenley and McCollum and saw that they want to close it. What can we do to stop it from closing?

Hi Browns,

Welcome to the message board. In light of Youngstown's budget crisis, the department has to shut down 2 fire stations. They are not closing permanatly but rather 2 stations are closing on a 3 week rotating basis. Stations 9 (southeast) and 12 (northeast) were close the past 3 weeks. For the next three weeks Engines 15 and 7 (Northside) are closed. The firefighters are holing informational pickets to make people aware that the stations are closed. I imagine the best people to voice your concerns are your local councilmen and possibly the mayors office. It's a shame the fire and police get this treatment whenever the city needs to save a buck or two but it's the perfered course of action in times of financial difficulty.

Feel free to check out the following forum for more discussion on the fire station closings...http://www.youngstownfire.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=currentYFDtopics

Good luck!

Stations Closed?

Have the stations being closed in the rotation changed?  It appears from the runs being posted that Engine 7 is back in service.

Engine 7 is the prefered station which means if there are enough guys to cover the station that day, it will be reopened. That's what has been happening lately.  The 3 week closing for 7 and 15 is up on the 21st. They will reopen then and Stations 3 and 6 will close.
