Thanks Box 2565, you know I like the old Dayton stuff.  The photo of Station 3 was shot long before I started in this hobby, but I sure shot some rigs that ran from here.  I wish I been around to shoot the rigs that are in this picture.  Earlier in the thread you have a photo of the station that prededed this one.  If I recall correctly, this station was built on the same lot as the old # 3.  I also believe that this new station combined with old Sta. 1  thus eliminating one station.  A practice that has continued over time in Dayton.   This ceased to be an active fire station when Co. 11 and Co. 3 were combined at the new Co. 11 on Warren St. & Buckeye.  The old station survived for a while as a St. Vincent DePaul Shelter, but has since been razed and is a vacant lot.  Dayton Union Station was a block South on Sixth St and the elevated lines can be seen in the photo also.  Yeah, it's all gone, too.

Old Station 9 is still standing on Salem Ave. and Oxford.  I was only here for the Hahn & FMC engines and missed that nice old Seagrave that is peering out at us.  There was talk for a time that Co. 9 & Co. 4 might possibly combine into a new station.  That never came about and the 9's just went away into history and Co. 4 is still at Main & Monument.

Thanks Again, Box 2565 & Keep em coming.

Station 12 in 1905 and 1957.  In the first photo it looks like they have a hose wagon and ladder; but no pump.  Jump to 1957 and all that is in the house is a pump (or is there a ladder lurking in the second bay?).

Once again, Nice Photos Box 2565.  I saw this station many times as I prowled the East Side, but it was long after it closed.  If I recall correctly, it stood at the intersection of Linden & Huffman.  Key word is stood, as this station was torn down and is a vacant lot.  Many years after Co. 12 disappeared from this location a new Co. 12 was organized way up North on Brandt Pike near Needmore Rd. in a shared facility with Huber Heights.  Dayton had an engine & Huber had a medic.  This arrangement did not last very long and E-12 is all alone.  Please keep these classic Dayton station photos coming our way!!

Engine 2 on West 3rd Street during 1957.
Engine 18 on Smithville Road during 1958.  Anyone know who built that ambulance?

For once, Box 2565 has managed to post a couple of Dayton Fire Stations that are not only still standing, but have actually remained in service.  Although Ladder 2 is no longer with us, E-2 is still on guard on E. 3rd @ Keowee ST.  E-18 is still up on Smithville and unfortunately Medic 18 is no longer running such a stylish vehicle.  Man, I would love to see those Seagraves at Co. 2 and know what was hiding behind the doors at Co. 18.  Keep 'em coming when you can, Thanks.

Engine 19 on Wayne Avenue - 1957
Notice the end-of-the-line loop where the trolley-bus is making a turn. The engine on the ramp is a mid-1950's Federal/General that was a CD purchase.  Dayton had a pair of these.  One of the Federal's was sitting at a junk yard near Gray Hawk, Kentucky in 1990 or so.

I always liked this station because it seemed to blend into the neighborhood so well.  In the late 60's I think I drove by this place a lot and didn't realize what it was. I sure wish I had been there to see that engine. In the 1970's I met a retired member of the DFD who was stationed at the 19's.  He had a wondefull collection of items that he kept in the basement of the station.  When he retired no one was very interested in the collection, so he took it with him.  I always wondered what happened to all of the collection?  Thankfully, this station still stands and is in pretty good condition.  I can't remember if it is in private hands or some other city agency.  E-19 disappeared when Sta. 19 & Sta. 15 were combined.  If the old guy in the photo would look to his left, that is the direction where the repalcement station would be located.  In DFD math - 2 engines + 1 truck = 1 engine & 1 truck. Later 1 & 1 became a quint. And now E-15 is a single engine just like the 19's were.  Thanks to Box 2565 for posting this and many others.

The station of Engine 4 at Monument and Main Sts.  This building served as Headquarters for the D.F.D.  When a new headquarters/firehouse was desired this building was torn down and the new place was built on the same site.  That's a 1940's vintage Seagrave sitting in the bay.

Once Again Very Nice Dayton Pics by way of Box 2565.  When the photo was taken of Station 2 it had been OOS for about 18 years.  I believe the current house was built around 1939 and a photo of it has been posted to this thread.  I never saw this house and I am pretty sure it has been demolished.  The old 13's is still standing today and its replacement sits across 3rd St and a little further West.  Ahhhh...the good old days!
