Is it possible to raise money for the FD?

A friend asked me this...
Many cities are raising money for the FDNY in light of Sept 11th.
Can something be done to help raise money for the YFD?
One example I can think of is that Warren Fire is selling Firefighter Calendars. I'm sure the money goes to another source but what about putting the $ back into the FD general operating budget. Can this be done?
Any thoughts, ideas, feedback?

Well... you guys could always have an ice cream social like we do. Get some local grocery stores and markets to donate food(hotdogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, etc.). Have some of the firemen's wives make pies and cakes(not saying that women have to, men can always do this to
) and get whomever that is making the cakes and pies get their friends and nieghbors to do it to. If there is something like a civic center in Youngstown, see if whoever operates that would donate the building to you guys for a couple of hours. Or have it in a huge park. Get some local stores to donate some door prizes. Get some 50-50 tickets. Make up ice cream social tickets, number them from 1 to how ever many you make and that number will be their door prize number. Have all of the off duty guys work it and maybe some outlining departments would offer a helping hand to you. Have the squad be their pemantely. Have one ladder thier and have the other ladder come in and relieve the ladder crew already their. Have the same thing happen with the battion chiefs. And have two engines work it and rotate engine crews also. This may work and it may not :-/.
