When will the new Firefighters Memorial be done???

Quite a while ago, the Spring Commons Bridge by the B'O Station was to be repainted red, dedicate the firefighters memorial bridge and a new large granite memorial complete with brass fire boots was suppose to be put in the area with the current concrete memorial. What has happened to this? Is this project still in the works? Is the parts of the memorial just sitting around a firehouse waiting to go?

I don't know if anywhere on this board there is mention that the Firefighters memorial in Youngstown was the brainchild of retired inspector Bill Brown

'Brownie'worked for several years to get that monument built, he had donations for almost  all of the labor as well as the supplys to build the monument.

The City at that time gave nothing to the cause and without the day in and day out insistance of Bill Brown that monument would not be there today.

Still any new word on the new memorial? The design in on the website homepage and looks great, but it would be nice if they could start building the thing soon.

I might be able to find out more at the Annual Fire Department Dinner at the end of the month.  I know they were hoping to start selling engraved bricks for the sidewalk of the memorial.

I know that painting the brigde is no longer in the plans.

I'll attached some better mockups of the current incarnation of the memorial soon.
