Firehouse Magazine is another one. Although I think they have gone downhill quality wise. I quit getting a subscription after having one for 10 years.
Their website is

I haven't been a subscriber for many years either. Just curious Greg, have your feelings towards this publication changed at all lately?

Well. Maybe just a little bit. I might be half tempted to restart a subscription.

I got a subscription for free due to a glich in the Firehouse.com forums. There were 13 people back in 2000 who lost thier user names and profiles and I was one of them. The ever-caring webteam gave the 13 of us free subscritions. Well, I had one for 2.5 years and then when I came to Ireland, I cancelled it. I think I will reinstate it when I get home, but I didn't have the funds at the time I left to pay for even a year's worth of renewel.

I also canceled my subscription to fire house. I started in 1980 and canceled in early 90's. It seems like you are reading the same issue month after month, only names and places changed. The only magazine I get now is FAJ
I also grew tired or Fire Engineering as well as Fire Command (first to go). I will glance at these when I'm at the fire house.

I'd be interested to see if opinions have changed in the last seven years. I still have no subscriptions, and never did restart that Firehouse subscription. I usually take one of the 6 copies of Fire Engineering that we get at the firehouse. In my opinion, it has the best technical articles on the fire service.

I let my Fire Engineering subscription expire and renewed Firehouse. Firehouse has actual fire reports, reminiscent of FE through the early 1980s. I like reading about the incidents; how they started, the FD response, how the fire was fought, and the aftermath/follow up. Fire Chief and Fire Engineering don't have much of this, but occasionally have good apparatus articles.

If anyone has WWII issues of Fie Engineering I'm always looking for those for research purposes.
