shout out for the GYMA...
« on: January 30, 2003, 05:44:44 PM »
If you live in the Youngstown, Ohio area and are into listening to the scanner or firefighting (which you must be because you are reading this board!). Why not check out the Greater Youngstown Monitoring Association or GYMA for short.

The club is devoted to the hobby of scanner monitoring, amateur radio, shortwave and everything in between.

We hold meetings ever odd month (cause hey we're all odd too so it works out) and we usually meet at the club president's house (who you might recogize, his handle is Hazguy :) ) in Boardman. Anyone and Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and if we have some people who show up, we might actually have a decent time :) Hahaha. No it's really a fun group just small right now.

Check out the GYMA web site by going to http://www.steelvalleywebdesign.com/gyma

Feel free to talk about it here. Either myself or Hazguy or maybe even W8YSU can answer any questions .

Come and check the group out!

Hey yea, this is a good place to put up a blurb about our club Greg  :)

We also support Youngstownfirelive ... if you listen to the YFD live scanner feed that is associated with the website.

Get a hold of one of us if you are interested in joining us.

Its September, and its time for another GYMA meeting.

The next meeting of the Greater Youngstown Monitoring Association scanner club will be held on Saturday, September 13, at 7 PM at Publications Officer, Greg Ricker's Home.

For those of you not in the know, Greg is the webmaster here at Youngstownfire.com.

We will have a regular business meeting along with a bonfire and hotdog and marshmellow roast.

Everyone who has radio interests (scanning, SWL, and ham) are welcome to join us.  If we make enuff smoke, maybe we will even attract the YFD to the party.   LOL

Hope to see you all there .. if you need directions, contact myself or yfdgricker.

HI gang ...

After a short hiatus, this thread is gonna activate up again!!

The next meeting of the Greater Youngstown Monitoring Association is slated for Saturday, September 11th, 2004 at 7 PM at our NEW meeting place, Boardman United Methodist Church on Market Street in Boardman, Ohio which is just north of the Southern Park Mall at 224 and Rt 7.

For those who used to attend meetings ages ago when the club started, this location is right across the street (the side street that is) from our old meeting place at the Yankee Kitchen on Market.

Hope to see you all there!!

Anyone interested in listening to fire and police scanners, amateur radio, shortwave radio or any other forms of radio communication are welcome to attend the upcoming meeting of the Greater Youngstown Monitoring Association (GYMA). The next meeting will be January 8, 2005. Start time is 7:00pm and the location is the Boardman United Methodist Church on Market Street btwn Beegly Immediate Care and the Mall.

It is the club's traditional After Christmas Christmas Party. Our meetings consist of a short meeting, food (usually) and an occasional demonstration of radio equipment in some form.

New visitors are always welcome! If you have a scanner bring it along. If your getting one for Christmas and want some help programming and using it, come to our meeting. We have lots of area information.

If your interested in Amateur radio, several of our members are licensed amateur radio operators (including me, W8YFD). We'll answer any questions you might have about that also.

For more information, please visit the clubs site at http://www.steelvalleywebdesign.com/gyma or drop us an email at gyma@email.com. Hope to see you there and happy scanning!
