What Does Your Name Mean?
«
on:

O.K. Folks, lot's of the nick names on the board can be figured out, but I always wonder what some of them mean. My name relates to the fire alarm box that was in front of our house when I was little (daysleeper47 ' gricker: yes I was little once!). If you would like to see a picture of Box 2565 (the box, not me!), visit this link here on the site:

.
So gang, what does your name mean!

And now a man who needs no introduction......yfdgricker!
Sorry I always wanted to say that!
In the unlikely event you can't figure my nickname out, its
yfd (Youngstown Fire Department) + g (The first letter of my first name) + ricker (My last name)
Pretty simple eh? How bout the rest of you?

Daysleeper is the name of a great song by R.E.M. and the 47 was a random pick. That's my story. Nothing too exciting. :watereyes3d:

I guess that Sirenman is pretty self explanatory. Actually it is what others started calling me some years ago, and sort of stuck.

Thunder is what my High School Swimming Coach started calling me back in 1975. I guess when I dove from the starting blocks I made this deep gutteral nosie that echoed like thunder around the pool. Now I am just noisy in general.....

Hi 52Howe,
I'd like to know some more abount your rig! Some time when you have a chance could you tell me the pump capacity, booster tank size, the Howe serial # and model # (from the little metal plate under the drivers seat) the pump #, and where was the rig in service.
I have a large listing of Howe rigs and where they served and I would like to add your rig to the list.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve I will look up the rest of the info you want . My truck is 500 gpm with a 500 gallon tank. it also has a Meyers high pressure pump for the booster reels. I am the Assistant Chief at Claypool Indiana and after 13 years of driving "Old Dad" I could not let him go any were else so I bought him for the out rageous sum of $750.00 fully equiped. I will look up the serial number tomorrow. I have the rest of the information, the truck is an HRS model serial number 9110 pump number 2147 the paper work calls it a dual pumper. The chasis is a 52 but the truck was not delivered until 7/16/53 I have the letter introducing the delivery driver.

Well the Jiffy part is for a childhood nickname...My full name is Jennifer. When I was young, my mom used to babysit this kid and he could never say "Jennifer" the right way--it always came out as "Jifler" so then it just sort of stuck and eventually got shortened to Jiffy. And the 911 part...well...duh
