Thank you! That sounds a bit hard to master, but very effective.
It takes more to describe it, especially the background to understand it, than if you just watched it done. As for effective, if it's all you got, well......

What do you mean "biblical"?
What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor. Real wrath of God type stuff! Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness, earthquakes, and volcanos! The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifices, dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!

Fayetteville's Chief of Police owns what I think is a mid-1950s Ford/ALF.  I haven't yet managed to get pictures as I only discovered it yesterday, but when I drove by it I could tell it was an ALF by the set up of the pump panel and how the body itself was built.  Pictures soon to come.

A wrong turn during a trip thru Carney's Point NJ in May,1993 led us past this mystery rig behind the town's public works garage.
Faded lettering indicated the Dupont facility nearby as the original owner, plate below the window I believe says "antique fire engine with water and foam tanks", looked to have been there awhile.
Based on the ALF lettering: 1965-67 IH VCO190/ALF  ????/???/??
wish I had shot the back end, but appears to be entirely an Elmira product?

A really spectacular find.

The explaination of "laying dual lines" was exactly correct.  When the engine stopped, the first thing done was to clamp off one line. Next, disconnect from the bed and connect that line to the pump. Immediately call for the hydrant to be opened.  The engineer could immediately begin delivering water from the hydrant.  Then the other line (with water up to the clamp) would be disconnected from the bed and connected to the other side of the rig.  Now you were on the hydrant with "dual" lines (2 1/2").  Worked every time.
