The first time I ever held a charged line was when the guy who pulled this rig out pulled the booster line and let me mess with it for a couple of minutes. Still a great memory from the summer of '75!

Bryson City Fire Dept.
Swain County, NC
Parade Truck
1938 (or 39?) Dodge/American LaFrance
750gpm (maybe) ???gal
ALF Registered # B-1148
Can anyone tell me anything about this truck? Pump/Tank sizes? Is Bryson City the one & only owner of this relic?
Thankfully she still runs & pumps, and is used in the yearly fireman's festival in town. This is how all older fire trucks should end up, still parked in the station and in working order!

Enid, OK
1940 Ford/ALF
Gas/manual
500/150(?)
(This rig is now owned by an individual in Enid. Four new ALFs were purchased this year by the EFD...a 500 Series 750-gpm pumper, a JO 85' aerial w/booster system, and two of these Fords. The JO is currently being restored, and should be finished in time for the 2007 [100th anniversary] Oklahoma State Firefighters Convention in Enid next week.)
1951 Ford/ALF (also one of two)
Engine 51
Gas/manual
500/500
(The tank and reels were removed during last year's restoration of this rig. In their place, dual bench seats were installed for parade use.)
Here are some in-service photos of these rigs (or their twins!):
http://www.enid.org/fire/photos.htm
Henryetta, OK
Ladder 105
1961 GMC/ALF
Gas/manual
250/300/65'
(The booster system on this truck hasn't been used for years. The reel has been removed, but the plumbing remains as you can see in the photo. Although the ladder is no longer certified, this piece is still owned by the department.)
Lawton, OK
Engine 36 (reserve; ex-E6)
1960 Ford/ALF
Gas/manual
750/500

Fayetteville, AR
Engine 3
1959 Ford/ALF
Gas/manual
750/500
(Note the busy pump panel [individual discharge gauges, etc.] on this girl, compared to the one on E7. These were delivered with just the Federal #78 sirenlight on the roof; beacons were added later. She was still a first-line piece in 1984, when this photo was taken.)
Engine 6 (second engine out of headquarters)
1962 Ford/ALF
Gas/manual
750/500
(Note the two auxiliary 2.5" intakes on these rigs...any of you youngsters ever heard of "layin' duals?")
Engine 7 (reserve)
1958 Ford/ALF
Gas/manual
750/500
(The 1957-60 "Big Job" [fat-fendered] F-Series Fords are my favorite commercial-chassis rigs.)
Mena, AR
1960 Ford/ALF #2-1-8367
Engine 3
Gas/manual
750/300
(Steve Loftin photos)
