What model year is the oldest surviving Seagrave?  And who originally owned it?

Seagrave chemical & hose combinations
T.F.D. - Most likely Tacoma, Washington.  T.F.D. purchased several of these in 1910/11.
Hanford, California - 1911 #6082
Orange, California - 1912 #7081

Pretty much zero information about these two photos.  The photo with the engine and hose rigs looks to be from California and the lettering could be N.F.D. or H.F.D.

On the tiller, what's the purpose of what appears to be an air intake to a rather primitive turbine engine?

The men with the tiller are holding or wearing equipment to, ax, bucket, lantern & Drager smoke helmet.

The near photo on bottom may be one of the Gorham pumpers? It carries suction hose and has a high mounted hose bed.

I like that smoke helmet, certainly a great idea!  But I still can't figure out that air intake thing under the grill on the tiller, it's totally baffling.

Air intake is for, well, air.  The motor on that rig is air cooled.

Ohh, I see, thank you!  It looked like it was for a turbine engine, quite honestly.

When did Seagrave enter the motorised fire apparatus market?  The earliest I've seen on here is a 1908, but I've heard rumours of Seagrave building motorised rigs as early as 1905.

I'll do some research of my records and let you know when Seagrave entered the motorized apparatus.  they did begin with air-cooled motors mounted beneath the driver's seat - - an AC 50 was a 50 Horsepower, air-cooled engine for example.  I'll give you a date of Seagrave's first year as motorized apparatus.

Found it -- Seagrave's first motorized vehicles were powered by 4-cylinder, air-cooled engines as I said. The first three went to Vancouver, B. C. in 1907.  They came out with the first water-cooled engine in 1911 and were 6-cylnder engines.

Thank you very much, Mr. Boyd!!  This is the main reason I love this sight, I can always get an answer to any question I have about firefighting/fire apparatus!
