Squad Co. 61
« Reply #14 on: March 18, 2003, 12:25:43 PM »
As someone else posted, Squad Co. 61 was not formed until1998. There was only 1 true Squad Co. by name at that time and it was Squad Co. 01 in Brooklyn (In the former quarters of Engine Co. 269). The only other "Squad" type company at that time was Engine Co. 41 in the Bronx. It was essentially a Squad Co. with all the requisite tools and equipment, but the citizens new a Squad Co. would leave their area all the time and they got concerened. FDNY reverted to calling it an "Enhanced" Engine Co. to keep things calm and let the citizens think it was their "Home" Engine Co. They didn't know it still left their 1st due for 10-75's and the like.
