Squad & Lights
#70051
A custom chassis rig of this type is highly unusual. The Seagrave paint shop records refer to this piece as "Squad + Light". Does anyone know if this apparatus was operated as a squad or was it just a light wagon?

Somerville, Massachusetts Engine 7
1932 Seagrave
Somerville purchased a half dozen rigs from Seagrave in 1932. This is most likely serial #70053 or 54. Those look like 6" hard suctions. I wonder if this is a 1000-gpm or 1250-gpm pump?

Here is a Seagrave mystery. The first picture is the photos I recieved from Seagrave after sending them the serial number off of the engine in Dumas, Texas. The engine was ordered during WWII. The factory photos show a booster truck with a 750 gallon tank in place of a hosebed. The engine that I remember and photographed has a 750 gpm pump and small booster tank yet they both have the same serial number. I guess they added the bigger pump at a later time. It does have a booster pump.

The Menlo Park Firefighter's Association operates this 1935 Seagrave Model 6B pumper, reg #81350, for special events. The rig was originally owned by Sausalito, California, just on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. The rig is named "Old Tom" after a former chief and is stored at Menlo Park Fire Station 6. While many fire departments out here seem to own old fire apparatus, they're rarely outside the station. When I saw it parked outside, I grabbed some quick pictures. Engine 6, a Pierce Dash, can be seen in the background. Menlo Park is a big user of Pierce apparatus, in fact, I don't think they have any frontline rigs other then Pierce, including a 100' midmount ladder.
