Los Angeles County purchased some interesting apparatus from Seagrave in the late 1930's.  The pumper/tanker was extremely unusual for that era, but the pumpers with the 600-gallon booster tanks always had a real visual appeal for me.  It would be nice to see this image in color as the Forester & Fire Warden apparatus was painted in a two-tone green color scheme.

Troy, OH  L-1
1937 Seagrave
65'  and equipped with a booster pump and 100 gallon tank.
Hose reel located in the rear under the ground ladders.
Model 6GWF # 85410.
Rig still exists, but unfortunately in poor condition.
B&W Photo taken in the mid 1960's on S. Market St. during a parade.
Fire House is 1 block ahead on the same side of the street as the bank where my grandmother worked.  Still there, now a US Bank.  Large 3 story white building over the pedestal burned down during an arson fire in March 1970, the last fire this aerial was at.  Also at the fire was its replacement, the 1969 Pirsch 85' posted below.  The color shot is from a muster in Troy from June 1979.  B&W courtesy of the Steve Hagy Collection, Color shots are mine.

1. 1941 Seagrave open-cab, 65ft. aerial was purchased.  It was noted as "the finest aerial ladder in Stark County" during the 1940's, seen here in 1979 at "new" Central as reserve.
2. The 1941 aerial at Longfellow Jr. High at a training demonatration for the public.
3. Interior of the 1941 aerial

This too is one of our trucks.  These three pictures are pretty cool, I've never seen them before.  Thanks for sharing them.

Somerville, Massachusetts
1932 Seagrave
Squad Car & Lighting Unit
#70051
This is a one-of-a-kind unit manufactured by Seagrave.  In contrast to other apparatus purchased by Somerville that was painted red, this squad car/light unit was painted in white (old ivory on the paint shop list).  White sidewall tires were furnished along with the customary decoration and striping that Seagrave was noted for.  Seagrave must have been pleased to have Somerville  as a customer.  At the height of the Depression sales were exceptionally low.  During 1932 only 50 units were produced of which a single purchase from Somerville accounted for 7 of those (3 additional units are listed for repairs and 2 as repaints - in November of 1932 no new apparatus was recorded in the painters log).

Haverstraw, New York - General Warren Emergency Co. #2

A pretty unusual piece of apparatus.  The scene at the fire is interesting in that you get to see the floodlight on the rig in use.
