I believe that the K.F.D. still owns this pumper and uses the old ALF as a parade piece! Does anyone have a recent photo of the rig to post?

The previous photo showed Old Betsy three days after delivery. This photo was taken last year. Old Betsy still remains in service as a parade rig.

Box2565, I must complement you on the fine military photos that you have posted on the pages of this web site.  This is a view of the AmLaFr pumper that appeared in your above Watervliet picture.

Empire Hook and Ladder Co, Carlisle, PA Cumberland County Co. 43. Had this 1923 American LaFrance 65 ft Aerial which was purchased in 1923 for $14,700.00. The popular American LaFrance Model 31 used a 4 cylinder engine to pull the 65 ft tiller. It carried the serial number 4242. This ended the era of the horse drawn fire department in Carlisle Borough. The Model 31 remained in service until 1954.

Looking for the other 38 of these fine rigs. I had the rare privelege of driving, and helping out with the restoration of Orange Texas's 1918 rig.  Its now on display in the State Fire Museum in Beaumont TX.  Like to find out information on what happened to the other 38, photos, stories.  Contact  JL563TX@texas.net.  THanks  James

I know nothing!  I purchased this photo at Allentown last weekend.  The rig is an early American LaFrance pumper on solid rubber tires.  I can't find any identifying lettering on the apparatus or on the buildings shown.  If anyone can provide an identification, please let me know!  The buildings behind the rig are: S. H. Kress & Co. 5 - 10 -25 Store; The Naval Store; and barely visible on the far left is lettering for H (first line) Schaf (second line) Marx (third line).  I hope to hear from someone!

1924 type 38, originally from Wickliffe, Ohio. Now enjoys a parade life in NE Ohio in private collection.
