This is a classic example of Memphis Fire Dept !!!!!!
Headquarters ' The Rock '
65 S Front St
Each bay door had its own address.
Companies that has been housed here
Engine 5, 9
Truck 1
Snorkel 1
Snorkel 2
High Pressure 1
Water Tower
Engine 9 Truck 1 Snorkel 1 Snorkel 2 and the Water Tower are out of service
This building was torn down in the mid 1960s and the new headquarters was built
Companies presently housed are
Engine 5
Rescue 2
Museum pumper
I will post a photo of the current headquaters later on
My grandfather was assigned here from 1951 until 1969 on Truck 1 and Snorkel 1

I really like the neon sign over the doors at Harriman. A Ward Lafrance and a Ferrara occupy the front ramp.

That's preety cool Steve!
Harriman was one of the towns I stopped at. Albeit for dinner and trains. I spent the night here and then headed north. Wish I would have taken the time to stop at the fire house.

Union Army Fire Station at Chattanooga, TN, about 1864. National Archives Photo.
Steve I believe the pix you posted of the US Warehouse in Chattanooga was also a Union Army fire station. The Union Army did maintain a company of fire fighters that traveled with the Army repairing and operating Confederate fire apparatus.
