Butler, Pennsylvania
Headquarters Station

Citizen Fire Company #2 of Mechanicsburg has this nice looking station.  What is unusual about this view is that the horse drawn rigs are pulled out, but the horses are nowhere to be seen.

An attractive, traditional style station.  How come they don't build them like this anymore?

Lehighton operated this beautiful structure as the quarters of Engine Company 2.

The H.F.D. has an impressive looking fleet, including an ambulance and rescue in this vintage view.

The Quarryville F.D. has their apparatus lined up and ready to go!

Flourtown PA
A department that obviously loved their American LaFrance's!

In this view and addition has been made to the station and there are now a couple of motorized American LaFrance rigs at the house.

Notice how narrow the doors are for the apparatus.

Allentown's headquarters station.

Horses, hay, and oats were behind the doors of this classic station in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

This scene depicts how roads were around 1910 in most of North America.  The photo shows the East End Fire Company station in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.  Notice the unpaved, muddy streets.  I don't know if this company had horses, but I hope so!  Can you imagine pulling a hand drawn rig through that mess to a fire!  This view has changed over time, but not to a great degree.  The building is no longer a fire station but is still standing at the fork in the road along the Lincoln Way (U.S. 30) and there are no longer interurban cars in this interesting town.

The picture that Box 2565 posted in Reply #20 is the Friendship Hose Company #1, Chambersburg, PA The Chambersburg Fire Department is made up of (5) fire companies within the Borough of Chambersburg. The Chambersburg Fire Department is proud to have the second oldest fire company in the State of Pennsylvania, which is the Friendship Engine ' Hose Company #1, Inc. in 1780. The following (5) fire companies make up the Chambersburg Fire Department: 1780 - Friendship Engine ' Hose Company # 1 (second oldest in Pennsylvania); 1872 - Junior Hose ' Truck Company # 2; 1877 - Good Will S.F.E. ' H. Company # 3; 1903 - Franklin Fire Company # 4; ' 1877 - Cumberland Valley Hose Company # 5.

In the early 80's the Chambersburg Fire Department consoildated into three stations.  They built a new headquarters station and the Juniors and Goodwills moved into it with Truck 1 and Engine 1-2.  McKinley Street Station the original station for the Cumberland Valley Hose Company combined with the Friendship Engine and Hose Company with Engines 1-5 and 1-1.  The Franklin Street Station houses boro engine 1-4. The Franklin Fire Company also has the rural area which they cover with 2 engines, 1 truck, 1 heavy rescue squad , and 1 brush unit.

This building at Morton certainly conforms to the term 'fire house'.  Except for the hose tower this station looks like a residence.

York, Pennsylvania
Vigilant Fire Company #1

Rescue Fire Company #7

York had around 9 engine/hose companies and 2 ladders at the departments peak.  If anyone has an exact number I would like to know what it is.
