Judging by the pump panel, this is one of three 1,250-gpm models shipped to Topeka, KS in 1953 (#s 9339, 9340, and 9341). These featured front suctions with enclosed hose compartments.

Here's a close-up of the front suction compartment. Note turn signals and pipe-mounted Federal #78 doubletone with Propello Ray light.

This is certainly different!  By chance does someone have a photo of the open cabinet?  I would really like to see a shot of one of these on a hydrant.
