City of Mount Hope
Engine 54
1981 Chevy/E-One
1000/750
E-One photograph, FDMH collection

One of eleven purchased going to Danese, Fayetteville, Mount Hope, Smithers, Boomer, Gauley Bridge, Gauley River, Ansted, Pax, Loup Creek and Armstrong Creek. This was a collaborative design by those fire departments done in the Summer of 1980, just after the fire levy passed for the first time, as a large order to replace many aged trucks and get a low price.  A tanker was also designed at the same time.   E-One got the bids, Allegheny FA being the dealer, to which at least one tanker was built with an Allegheny body.  All fire departments in the county save Oak Hill, Montgomery and Nuttall (which didn't exist at the time) were represented.  This photo was supposedly taken in Ocala, FL when the crew arrived to take this truck home.  Also pictured in the background is Fayetteville's Engine 36, a twin to this rig.  This rig was replaced in 2000 with the current Engine 54, being replaced around the same time as Ansted and Gauley Bridge replaced theirs.

City of Mount Hope
Truck 55
1974 Seagrave Rear Admiral
1000/0/100ft
ex-Fort Collins, CO
Unknown photographer, FDMH collection

This apparatus was purchased in 1994 and was the first aerial in the area of Fayette County known as the Plateau.  It was also the first and only quint in the county until being replaced by FDMH's current quint in 2005.

Yes.  Some FD's went with a few options that lead to some minor differences, like crosslays, extended bumpers, etc.

If you look at Engine 63 of the page for Smithers under "West Virginia" and the old Engine 36 in Fayetteville's page under "Apparatus by Fire Department", they are twins to this.

Ours was donated to Wilderness VFD in 2000, I'm working on getting up there to get pictures, Fayetteville's was sold in 2008, Danese sold theirs in 2000 to one of their members, Loup Creek and Armstrong Creek still run theirs, but will be replaced soon, Smithers still runs theirs fairly regularly, Boomer sold theirs between 2004 and 2009, Gauley Bridge and Ansted sold theirs around the same time we sold ours, I'm not sure when Pax got rid of theirs and I'm not sure if Gauley River still has theirs or not.
